3 Year Old Colton Boy With Autism Who Went Missing From His Home Found Safe Thanks To Massive Search

A little boy with autism who went missing from his Colton home was found safe thanks to a massive search and rescue response.

The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office was called to the home West of Colton on Friday night around 9:30.  The three year old boy had been missing for about an hour.  Deputies called in emergency responders from Whitman County Fire District 14 out of Colton/Uniontown, Latah Search and Rescue. Pullman Police, Moscow Police, Washington State Patrol, Latah County Sheriff’s Office and Whitman County Emergency Management.  A volunteer K-9 search unit also helped out.  Nearly 100 first responders looked for the boy.

Drones with heat sensing cameras from the sheriff’s office, Pullman PD and Moscow PD searched for the boy in the dark.  A Moscow PD drone detected a heat signal in a field which turned out to be the boy.  He was checked out by EMT’s on scene and returned home unharmed.  He was found about a mile from his home.

Whitman County Sheriff Brett Myers wants to thank all of the emergency responders for their assistance.
