A 38-year-old Potlatch man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for sexually abusing a child.
Jesse Burnett was sentenced by Latah County Second District Court Judge John Judge on Friday. Burnett pleaded guilty in November to felony lewd conduct with a child and a charge related to child pornography. Judge Judge retained jurisdiction in the case which means he will review the sentence at a later date. The first 5 years of the sentence are fixed before Burnett would potentially be eligible for parole.
Burnett was arrested in March by the Latah County Sheriff’s Office for molesting a child. He told deputies that he spent two years in a children’s home when he was 13 for similar abuse.
