The deadline is coming up to turn in reading logs for the Words for Whitman Read-A-Thon.
The month-long event is open to all ages and encourages participants to track their reading throughout August. Participants can read independently, read aloud to someone else or listen to audiobooks.
The Read-A-Thon is being organized by the Whitman County Pomona Grange #2 to support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Whitman County and other local literacy programs.
Reading logs must be submitted by Thursday, Sept. 3, to be eligible for prizes. Entries for the Words for Whitman Short Story & Poetry Contest are also due Sept. 3.
Printed reading logs can be dropped off Sept. 3 from noon to 8 p.m. at the Whelan-Ewartsville Grange Hall, 4902 State Route 27 between Pullman and Palouse.
