Arson fire damages downtown Pullman restaurant

     An arson fire damaged a downtown Pullman restaurant Sunday night.  Shortly before Midnight a passerby noticed smoke coming from the Subway on Main Street.  City of Pullman Firefighters responded and forced entry into the building and extinguished the flames.  Volunteers from Whitman County Fire District 12 out of Pullman were called in to assist. 

     Pullman Police are confirming that the fire has been ruled an arson.  A joint team of fire investigators from the fire, Pullman Police and Washington State University Police Departments is investigating the arson.  No one was hurt.  The Subway sustained fire, smoke and water damage.  The unoccupied business space next door sustained some water damage.  The Baskin Robbins in the same building did no sustain any damage. 

     The Subway will be closed indefinitely while the other 2 franchise locations in Pullman are still open.  One in the Pullman Walmart and the other in the Compton Union Building on the WSU campus.
