Candidate filing in Washington starts Monday

The Washington campaign season officially begins Monday with the first day for candidate filing.  Locally in Whitman County there are several seats up for a vote this year.  County Commissioner District 3 held by Michael Largent, assessor, auditor, clerk, coroner, prosecutor, sheriff, treasurer and district court judge are all up for a vote.  The local seats in the state house are also on the ballot.  On the federal level the local congressional seat is up for a vote along with the US Senate post held by Maria Cantwell.  Voters in Washington will also consider 3 State Supreme Court seats this year.  Candidate filing runs through Friday.  Filing for local county positions is conducted at the courthouse in Colfax.  The Washington primary is in August with the general election in November.
