Charges Dropped Against Man Accused Of Mugging Couple During Alleged Sale Of Items Early In The Morning On A Pullman Path

The case against the man accused of mugging a couple during what was reportedly supposed to be an early morning meeting on a Pullman trail to purchase items has been dropped.

Whitman County Prosecutors have declined to charge 34-year-old Daniel Pils of Pullman because of insufficient evidence to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.

Pils was arrested by Pullman Police for allegedly robbing a 29-year-old Lewiston man and his 38-year-old Pullman girlfriend around 1:30 in the morning on August 20th.  The couple claimed they met Pils on a path on Sunnyside Hill near Golden Hills Drive to sell him a tablet, cellphone and a tent.  The couple told officers that Pils pulled out a bowie knife, stole the items and fled on foot.

Pullman Officers arrested Pils on a warrant 2 weeks later during a traffic stop on the Moscow-Pullman Highway.
