The City of Moscow is required to conduct flushing of the water system each year.
Flushing will be performed between 8 am to 3:30 pm from October 10th through the 20th.
This process helps ensure the safety of Moscow’s drinking water.
The Moscow Water Department performs annual flushing to minimize iron flocculation buildup in the distribution system.
Flushing will be performed during the following times:
Oct. 10 & 11 – Main St west to the City Limits between D St and Taylor Ave
Oct. 12 & 13 – D St north to the City Limits between Almond St and Polk St and from Taylor Ave south to Palouse River Drive, including the Frontier addition
Oct. 13 & 14 – 6th St north to the City limits between Polk St and Mountain View Rd and Fort Russell neighborhood
Oct. 17 & 18 – 6th St south to the Troy Highway and east to Mountain View Rd and Indian Hills Addition
Oct. 19 & 20 – everything east of Mountain View Rd from the north to the south City Limits
During flushing, there will be water in the roadway. Drivers are cautioned to take care when driving through these areas.
Following the cold-water process, it is recommended to run hot water for several minutes to ensure the lines are clear, especially before washing machines.
