Drop In Moscow Theft Cases Drives Down Latah County’s Crime Rate In 2019

A drop in property crimes in Moscow was the primary driver for a lower crime rate in Latah County last year.  Idaho State Police have released the state’s annual crime statistics.

Total crime in Moscow dropped by about 2.5% in 2019.  That was primarily driven by a decrease in theft cases.  Last year’s total offenses in Moscow were the lowest in 5 years.

Crime in Latah County outside of the City of Moscow held steady in 2019.  The sheriff’s office did see a decline in property crimes with an increase in fraud cases.

Total crime in Latah County dropped about 1.5% last year which was the lowest in the last 5 years.
