A popular recreation spot on the Snake River in Whitman County has been vandalized again.
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers staff are cleaning up spray-painted graffiti at Granite Point. Several tags were found by corps rangers on June 20th. The graffiti was painted on the rocks sometime the week before.
Staff has already spent about 20 hours trying to remove the graffiti. The corps needs to spend more time to remove the spray paint. The corps was forced to close Granite Point in May of last year for a major cleanup.
The corps is warning the public that they can close Granite Point permanently if vandalism continues. Officials are also reminding the public that they could ban alcohol at the recreation site. Beer cans and bottles left at Granite Point continues to be a problem.
