Heat Causes 3 Buckles In US195 Near Rosalia

Hot temperatures caused three buckles on U.S. Highway 195 near Rosalia on Tuesday.

All the ruptures occurred near the rest stop in North Whitman County.  Washington State Department of Transportation crews completely repaired two of the buckles on Tuesday.  Work to fully repair the worst buckle will wrap up when the weather cools down.  There are currently no traffic delays on the highway.  A WSDOT employee will drive that section of highway hourly during the day to monitor for more buckling during this heatwave.  This is one of the oldest and thinnest sections of poured concrete on US195.

The highway in the Rosalia area buckled last August and again in July of 2021.
