The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for the Palouse. The forecast is calling for sustained winds at 25 MPH with gusts to 60 MPH until 4:00 this afternoon.
The peak gust so far this morning on the Palouse was in the 4 o’clock hour at the Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport with 58 MPH. The strongest gust in the region was on Silcott Island in the Snake River near Clarkston with a gust of 65 MPH around 5:00.
About a thousand Avista Utilities customers are without power this morning on the Palouse. The largest outage is in the Colton area with about 400 customers in the dark.
Palouse-Albion Road is blocked this morning by downed power lines. There are also trees down in Pullman on Pioneer Hill and Military Hill.
A Flood Advisory has also been issued for the Palouse. Paradise Creek in Moscow is just below minor flood stage this morning at just under 9 feet.
