Latah County Sheriff’s Office Participating in Statewide Seat Belt Enforcement Effort

The Latah County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with the Idaho State Police and the Idaho Transportation Department’s Office of Highway Safety (OHS) in a statewide seat belt enforcement effort.

From May 20 to June 2, law enforcement officers will participate in the enforcement effort, issuing citations to those not wearing their seat belts and educating on the importance of all drivers and passengers buckling up.

According to OHS survey data, 87% of Idahoans wear their seat belt. Wearing a seatbelt can increase your odds of surviving a car crash by 50%.

The statewide effort coincides with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Click It or Ticket campaign.
