A local Rotary-sponsored service club is stepping up to help victims of the Labor Day firestorm. The blaze destroyed most of Malden and Pine City in North Whitman County.
The Rotaract Club of the Palouse spent grant money from the Rotary District to buy 650 dollars in gift cards to local businesses. The group also collected new and gently used clothing for fire victims. Rotaract delivered the clothing and gift cards to Whitman County United Way last month for distribution.
The club is a youth-based organization sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Moscow and Pullman.
