Vehicle traffic across the Lower Granite Lock and Dam near Colfax on the Snake River will be delayed Monday morning. Between 7 a.m. and noon, traffic will repeatedly be delayed up to two hours for the installation of research equipment to study fish behavior concerning the new fish ladder cooling system. During the delays, the Lower Granite Visitor Center and south-shore recreation areas on Almota-Ferry Road will only be accessible from the south riverbank. Lower Granite has crossing hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday through Sunday. This schedule will remain in effect until September 4. Dam crossing may be closed on federal holidays, but will be open on Independence Day and Labor Day.
All crossing vehicles are subject to search and photo identification is required for all occupants 18 and older. Large commercial vehicles, vehicles carrying flammable or explosive cargo and vehicles which are difficult to search will not be allowed to cross. Pedestrians are also not allowed to cross the dam.
