Mask mandate to continue when UI students return to school

The University of Idaho announced that the mask mandate will still be implemented when students return from Fall Break.

However, with COVID-19 cases decreasing in our area, President Scott Green announced they will reevaluate the mandate every week rather than every three weeks.

The university will leave the decision of whether or not to implement the mask mandate at extensions and research centers to its leaders. They will determine the decision based on COVID-19 data within the county they’re located in.

President Green said there still isn’t any news on the vaccination mandate that was implemented by the Biden administration.

Green hopes the court hearing challenging the federal contractor mandate will bring more guidance in December.
