Moose Creek Reservoir Near Bovill Will Be Dropped This Winter To Kill Nuisance Weeds

Moose Creek Reservoir near Bovill will be drawn down this winter to kill off the weeds.

Pondweed is filling the reservoir limiting the fishing opportunities at Moose Creek.  The reservoir will be dropped to about nine feet below full pool starting November 4th.  The lower water will help control pondweed for the next six years.  Idaho Fish and Game was able to cut back on the weeds with a similar draw down in 2018.  Moose Creek will stay down until the spring runoff.

The reservoir will stay open for fishing this winter.  Biologists will move bass and bluegill to other waters before the draw down.  October’s normal trout stocking at Moose Creek will go to Elk Creek Reservoir near Elk River.  Moose Creek will be restocked in the spring after the reservoir fills back up.
