Moscow City Council approved a restructuring of the commercial sewer rates. The restructuring will break consumers into three categories: low, medium, and high. Commercial customers will be placed into a category based on their loading levels of wastewater produced. The shift will better align costs with contributions to the sewer system and could result in reduced sewer bills. Commercial customers will receive a letter indicating their new classification, and estimated impact on their bill.
The change comes from the Moscow Water and Sewer Utility Rate Study. For the past year the city’s utilities maintenance, operations, and capital needs were assessed to ensure the costs of operating and maintaining the critical infrastructure system were in alignment with fees to users.
