The University of Idaho’s new head football coach Thomas Ford spoke on his plans for the team in his introductory press conference on December 20th.
The press conference follows the announcement on Wednesday that Coach Ford would be stepping into the role as the University’s 37th head coach.
At the conference, Coach Ford highlighted roster retention as one of his top priorities as he enters the new role.
Ford spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons with the vandals as special teams coordinator and running backs coach under former head coach Jason Eck. Coach Eck left the university over the weekend to take the head football coach job at the University of New Mexico.
The change marks Ford’s first head coaching job in the football championship subdivision. His hire comes after around 20 vandals entered the transfer portal following Coach Eck’s departure.
