Rare Idaho Coho Salmon Fishing Season Opens Today

A rare Coho Salmon season in Idaho opened today.

Idaho Fish and Game met today and approved the season.  Officials say the silvers might not show up for another couple of weeks.

Anglers can fish for Coho below Memorial Bridge in Lewiston on the Clearwater River 7 days a week.  Fishing above the bridge and on the North and Middle Forks is only allowed Thursday through Sunday.

Mangers are expecting this year’s Coho run in Idaho to be around 10,000 fish.  Silver salmon fishing in Idaho was allowed last year, in 2017, and in 2014.
