Traffic stop in Colfax leads to drug bust early Thanksgiving morning

Whitman County Deputies arrested a 51-year-old Boise man early Thanksgiving morning on multiple counts of possession of a controlled substance. 

Just past midnight, deputies initiated a traffic stop in downtown Colfax. The sheriff’s office said the driver violated multiple traffic laws. After speaking with the driver, deputies believed he was allegedly under the influence.

The driver allegedly allowed deputies to search his vehicle. Deputies say they discovered numerous illegal substances including, non-prescribed Xanax, Ketamine Powder, 100 Psilocybin Mushroom Capsules, 500 doses of LSD, and numerous doses of MDMA tablets and Ecstasy powder. 

Cash, scales, packaging materials, and other prescription pills in unauthorized containers were also allegedly discovered. 

Ronald Thiel was booked into the Whitman County Jail on several counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver.
