Trail Being Proposed Between Colton & Uniontown

Plans are in the works for a trail between Colton and Uniontown.

The proposal was discussed during a workshop with the Whitman County Commissioners on Tuesday.  The plan calls for building a roughly two mile trail between the towns in Southern Whitman County along U.S. Highway 195.  The path would run in the Washington State Department of Transportation’s highway right of way.  The project is being pursued by several entities including the Colton-Uniontown Trail Association.

The commissioners discussed the county’s potential role in the trail project during their workshop.  They concluded that the county doesn’t have the money or the staffing to take an active role in the effort but are supportive of the idea and are willing to provide guidance.
