Vehicle crossings of Lower Granite Dam across the Snake River South of Colfax may be delayed or even closed for the rest of the year.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says staffing limitations are causing the issue. Starting on Sunday and for the rest of the year crossings of the dam may be delayed or even prohibited without notice. Federal officials are telling drivers to use alternate routes.
Last year the corps temporarily closed several recreational sites on the river because of a ranger shortage.
