Volunteer Firefighters Contain Anhydrous Ammonia Leak In Colton-No Threat To Public

Volunteer Firefighters responded to an anhydrous ammonia leak at the Wilbur-Ellis facility in Colton Monday afternoon.

Crews from Whitman County Fire District 14 out of Colton-Uniontown were called to the leak shortly after 12:00.  A hose on a 30,000 gallon anhydrous tank ruptured leaking the gas.  Volunteers used water to contain the gas which turns the fertilizer into a liquid.  There is no threat to the community of Colton.  The McGregor Company responded to assist.
