The vote by mail ballots for next month’s general election in Washington are being sent out Friday.
In Pullman there are 3 contested races to be decided. Pullman City Councilman Al Sorensen is being challenged by former City Councilman Francis Benjamin. Pullman School Board Trustee Nathan Roberts faces challenger Carolina Silva. Pullman Regional Hospital Commissioner Tricia Grantham is being challenged by Ried West.
Voters in Palouse and Malden have a full slate of contested town council races to decide. There are 6 contested city council races in Palouse and 4 in Malden. Elsewhere in Whitman County there are contested city council races in Colfax, Garfield, LaCrosse, Rosalia and Uniontown. Contested school board races will also be decided in Colfax, Garfield and St. John.
The ballot includes dozens of small taxing district levies in communities across Whitman County for streets, pools, fire and EMS services and cemeteries.
Those vote by mail ballots need to be back to the auditor’s office postmarked by election day Tuesday November 2nd. They can be dropped off anytime in ballot boxes in Pullman on Paradise Street downtown, outside Dissmore’s and at Washington State University outside the CUB and the Chinook. There are also ballot boxes at the Whitman County Elections Office in Colfax and in the alley behind the office.
