The Washington state capital budget passed in the state Senate, with funding for specific projects being considered throughout Whitman County. There is a proposed allocation of $237,000 to the Pullman Depot Heritage Center to help restore the building. Another proposed distribution in Whitman County is over a million dollars toward upgrading the pool in Colfax. Other possible disbursements throughout Whitman County include $33,000 toward the Garfield school district, $38,000 toward the Oakesdale school district, and $961,000 to support the Whitman County Fire Recovery. Next week, the House of Representatives will reveal its capital budget proposal, and then the Senate and the House of Representatives will meet and reach an agreement for a final version.
