WSU Extension Department of Commerce partner to expand rural broadband access

Washington State University Extension, Department of Commerce is partnering with the Washington State Broadband Office to provide better and more equitable access to reliable, high‑speed internet for Washington communities in rural and remote areas.

The one‑year, $8 million statewide Broadband Action Team Implementation and Support project aids to enhance internet access in underserved areas by providing training, planning support, and resources coordinated through Extension offices.

The program will also provide funding support for local digital equity efforts by counties and tribes.

In 2022, the Washington State Legislature provided the state broadband office with $3 million to support digital equity planning for the state’s 39 counties and 29 federally recognized tribal nations.
