WSU student accused of stealing 10K from institution pleads out

The Washington State University student accused of stealing 10,000 dollars from the institution has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.  20 year old Aaliya Lewis pleaded guilty to second degree felony theft in Whitman County Superior Court Friday.  Lewis was sentenced to 2 days in jail and ordered to perform a month of community service.  She was working for accounts receivable at WSU in August when she funneled two checks for the university into her account to pay off her student debt.  Lewis was initially charged with first degree felony theft.  She was not ordered to pay restitution since WSU reallocated the stolen funds to the appropriate accounts.
