WSU To Sell Off-Campus Homes Bought During The Rawlins Administration To Revitalize College Hill

Washington State University will be selling the off-campus College Hill homes that were bought during former President V. Lane Rawlins administration.

WSU bought 4 homes between 2004 and 2006 for 1.3 million dollars as part of Rawlins’ effort to try to revitalize College Hill.  The homes became student housing for 4 broad ethnic groups.  The heritage homes were for African Americans, Latinas, Native Americans and Asian Pacific Americans.

WSU spent over 1.5 million dollars repairing the homes.  The conditions of the heritage homes have since declined and all 4 were closed by the Fall of 2019.

According to a report to the WSU Regents the university intends to sell the properties.  The regents will hear the report during their virtual meeting this week.
