A felony rape charge has been filed in the alleged sexual assault case that was reported by Pullman High School this fall.
The Whitman County Prosecutor’s Office has charged a juvenile male PHS student with 3rd degree felony rape.
The case was initially reported as a sexual assault that occurred at the high school. Pullman Police quickly determined that the alleged rape of a female student took place at a home.
Pullman detectives investigated a second allegation that the same boy assaulted a girl at the high school. Police didn’t find enough evidence to pursue that potential misdemeanor assault case.
The case drew public attention when a group of PHS students walked out of class on September 23rd and marched downtown to protest what they claimed was a lack of response by the school administration. PHS administrators said they reported the allegations to the Pullman PD immediately. Pullman Police Commander Aaron Breshears confirmed that the administration reported the allegations right away.
The charge has been filed in juvenile court.
