Firefighters Continue To Battle Blaze On Moscow Mt.-Idler’s Rest Nature Preserve Hasn’t Burned

60 firefighters supported by fire engines, water tenders a bulldozer and a helicopter are fighting the Idlers Fire on Moscow Mountain today.

The blaze started Monday afternoon as a structure fire on Idler’s Rest Road.  The fire destroyed a couple of structures on Monday including a home.

Evacuations remain in place for residents of Idler’s Rest, West Twin and Moscow Mountain Roads.

The Idler’s Rest Nature Preserve and its cedar grove near the blaze have not burned but the park is closed.

The blaze is zero percent contained at 150 acres.  A Type III Incident Management Team will take over the fire tonight.

IDL’s fire camp is at the fairgrounds.  Firefighters will be staying at the fairgrounds for the next 10 days.  A portion of the RV park and the East Field at the fairgrounds are closed for the camp.
