Rangers are ready for busy holiday weekend in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests in North Central Idaho.
Officials are reminding visitors that fireworks are banned in national forests. The local ranger station is Potlatch is closed due to staffing shortages. There are no fire restrictions this weekend. Visitors are reminded to never leave a campfire unattended and make sure it’s completely out before you leave. Most developed campgrounds in the forest are on a first come first served basis. Hikers, bikers and riders need to be prepared to encounter possible downed trees on the trail.
