The University of Idaho will start offering bachelor’s and master’s degrees in artificial intelligence starting this fall at its Moscow and Coeur d’Alene campuses, with graduate programs also available fully online.
The new degrees build on nearly 40 years of AI-related coursework at U of I, which introduced its first artificial intelligence course in 1986.
Programs combine classroom instruction with hands-on research and industry partnerships, preparing students to build AI systems and apply them to real-world challenges. AI employment opportunities are projected to grow 17.3% nationally and 25.5% in the Mountain West region by 2034.
U of I is currently the only institution in Idaho conducting AI research through the National Artificial Intelligence Research Resource Pilot program, operated through the National Science Foundation.
