Next year’s University of Idaho Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival has been moved to the spring and will be held inside the new campus arena.
The 55th Annual UI Jazz Fest will be April 19th through the 22nd to coincide with Hampton’s 115th birthday. Jazz fest is traditionally held in February inside the Kibbie Dome. The festival’s evening concerts next year will move to the new Idaho Central Credit Union Arena. UI’s jazz fest features student groups from around the Northwest who compete and take part in workshops with professional jazz artists.
Festival Manager Dr. Josh Skinner says next year’s spring jazz fest will be a trial run. Organizers will assess jazz fest after the April event to determine when to hold the festival going forward.
