A 62 year old Mead man was injured in a head on crash on State Route 26 West of Colfax Friday afternoon.
The Washington State Patrol responded to the crash near the county fairgrounds around 3:00. Troopers say Michael Schmidt was driving an SUV Westbound when he crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a pickup. A 51 year old Diamond man was driving the truck and was not hurt. Schmidt was injured and transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. Troopers say Schmidt caused the crash by driving too fast for the conditions.
