The Port of Whitman County has received a state loan to finance improvements at the airport outside Colfax.
The 1.2 million dollar loan is from the Washington State Department of Transportation’s Community Aviation Revitalization Board. The financing will pay for a new hangar, taxiway paving and site work for up to 19 new hangars. Port officials expect to begin the work in 2026.
The port owns the airport near Colfax which is called the Port of Whitman Business Air Center.
