UPDATE: The street is now open.
Motorists are being asked to avoid the shortcut around Colfax tonight as a semi has jackknifed on Fairview Street.
The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office reports that the semi crashed around 5:30 tonight. The disabled semi has blocked a lane of Fairview. The street will be completely closed when the tow truck works to remove the semi. Deputies say that will take some time and are asking motorists to avoid Fairview Street on Hospital Hill. The street leads out to Colfax Airport Road which is the popular detour around town to State Route 26. No one was hurt in the crash.
