Volunteer firefighters saved a home and shop buildings from a wildfire during the high winds on Sunday afternoon.
Whitman County Fire District 2 Volunteers from St. John and District 5 from Lamont responded to the blaze around 4:30. The fire broke out on Gordon Hamilton Road West of town.
